Al Christoffersen A dear man to many was lost tragically to us all on Monday, Dec. 1, 2008. Alan (Al) Christoffersen, born July 6, 1954, is the son of wonderful parents, Phil (deceased) and Phyllis (of North Ogden) Christoffersen; the husband of his devoted wife, Karen; the father of three loving children (Bart, KC and Jesse Anne)and a perfect daughter-in-law (Paige Beecher Christoffersen); and the grandfather to a brand new baby girl, Grace, born Nov. 1, 2008. First and foremost, Al was a family man. There was nothing more important to him and he demonstrated it in so many ways. Als testimony of his Savior and His restored church was profound. He lived the gospel on a daily basis and was a tremendous example of faith and trust in his Heavenly Father to his wife, his family and his many friends. He was hard-working at home, at church, and at his job as a package driver for UPS. His job was a blessing to his family because it allowed him to spend every weekend at home and gave him lots of vacation time which he absolutely loved. Everyone who knows Al knows of his love to vacation and especially his love of golf. Al was also a true blue BYU fan. Go Cougars! Al was privileged to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ to the South American immigrants of Sydney, Australia from 1974-76. He and Karen were sealed in the Jordan River Temple in March of 1982 and in 26 years of marriage still able to count all of their arguments on one hand. He was very proud to be the father of an Eagle Scout who served the Lord faithfully in the France Toulouse Mission from 2003-05 and especially pleased to see this young man, Bart, marry Paige in the Salt Lake Temple, one of the most joyful days of his life. He was looking forward with great pride to Barts graduation from the University of Utah this month. Al also took great delight in his beautiful daughters, enjoying their beautiful singing, musical talents and sportsKCs water polo and piano and Jesse Annes tennis, golf and viola. But more than anything, Al was deeply grateful that these three amazing children all have strong testimonies of the divinity of the Lord Jesus Christ and are faithful members of His church. Karen, his wife: I have said so many times that Al is like Mary Poppins, practically perfect in every way, and it is so true. I could not have loved him more. From the day I married him I committed to never saying anything to him that I would ever regret. I treasured, and still treasure, him and will miss him terribly. Bart: Dad, you are my hero, and I will live up to the name that you have represented so well. I will miss summer mornings on the golf course and chilly mornings watching football. Save a tee-time for me KC: I love you, Dad. Thank you for raising me in the gospel and teaching me the things that would bring me strength and faith in our Heavenly Fathers plan for us. I owe so much of who I am to you. I just wish your time hadnt been cut so short so that I could repay you and show my gratitude to youand take you to Pebble Beach. Jesse Anne: There were so many ways for me, his youngest daughter, to spend time with my Dad. We would play tennis for hours until he was weary, and golf when he needed an extra partner. He showed so much love through spending time with me and I will miss him dearly. His testimony has made my own grow and will last with me forever. Paige: Al, thank you for being you. I have learned so much from your amazing example and no one could have asked for a better father-in-law. Im a better person because of you. I love you dearly. Als wonderful family include his lovely mother Phyllis and sisters Jill, JoAnn (and Jerry Hall) and Jan (and Clark Shurtz). He truly loved spending this last Thanksgiving with them all, missing only his nephew, Josh, serving his mission in Brazil.
