Albert Mattson

May 16, 1915 — April 2, 2009

Albert John Mattson 1915 ~ 2009 Al Tar, 93, of Salt Lake City, UT and Ishpeming, MI, born in National Mine, MI to Matt Laituri and Sofia Hangasmaa Mattson, passed away peacefully at home April 2, 2009. His wife, of 72 years, Anita Lucille and son, Dean, teamed together and cherished each moment in caring for Albert the last two years. Daughter, Karen, RN, devotedly helped us in our times of need. Albert, an outdoors man and former 40 year employee of Hercules, is survived by his wife, Anita; children: Dr. Roger (Karen) Mattson, Paul (Dorothy) Mattson, Dr. Miles (Nancy) Mattson, Dean Mattson, Karen (Robert) MacArt; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Al is preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers; 5 sisters. Many thanks to CareGivers Support/Hospice Care, Pastor Gordon Young, Chaplin Cheryl, neighbors, friends, St. Matthews Lutheran Church Ladies, organist, program participants, McDougal Funeral Home and everyone who helped and cared. Visitation will be Saturday, April 11, 2009, 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 5200 South 2700 West, with Pastor Gordon Young officiating. Grave side service follows at Redwood Memorial Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road. Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers are sons and grandsons. A luncheon will follow at the church where all are invited. Dad, the goal of keeping you at home was reached. We love you. We will miss you. May God bless and keep you.
