Alicia Marie Macias, 47, of Sahuarita, Arizona, passed away peacefully at her home holding the hands of her beloved son and husband on Monday, July 13, 2020. She was born to David and Maureen Cox on April 22, 1973, in Tucson, Arizona.
Alicia grew up in Round Valley, Arizona. She graduated from Round Valley High School in 1991. After high school, Alicia moved to Germany for a few years where her son, Justin, was born. After returning from Germany, Alicia began working at the Bureau of Prisons in Safford, Arizona where she met the love of her life, Francisco Macias, the two were married on November 12, 2003 in West Virginia.
In 2007 Alicia moved to Sahuarita, Arizona to work for the Bureau of Prisons. In 2010 she retired after 10 years of working for the BOP. Alicia was a very strong woman. She survived a kidney transplant, as well as a pancreas transplant, which successfully gave her an additional 10 years to love and enjoy life. Alicia loved her Pittsburg Steelers, almost as much as her treasured Chihuahua Chica Marie. She enjoyed raising racehorses and spending long days at the racetrack with her husband Francisco. She was extremely smart and a bit feisty. You always knew where you stood with Alicia. A whole lot of smarts and beauty all in one little package. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who felt complete when surrounded by the love of her babies. Towards the end of her life, Alicia was baptized and confirmed Catholic, which had been a wish of hers for many years. The fulfillment of this wish brought her great peace and joy.
Alicia is survived by her husband; Francisco Macias Jr. Her children and grandchildren; Justin (Kelsey) Cranford & their children Remington, Kashdyn and Mikah, Stephanie (John) Nunley & their children Ryenn, Leah and Balian, Pancho (Kresta) Macias, and Gaspar Macias & his children Cyrus and Tyvien. She is also survived by her parents; David and Maureen Cox and her sisters; Trisha (Walter) Shannon and Erica (Mike) Miller.
A viewing will be held at McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel, 112 E. Main Street on Saturday, July 18, 2020, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., the Rosary will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and the Funeral Services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be completed at Safford Cemetery following the services.
