Alicia Figueroa Martinez, 95, of Solomon, AZ, passed away June 19, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born February 11, 1923 in Phoenix, AZ to Juan & Adela Robles Figueroa.
She was a very strong, tenacious and vigilant woman. She married the love of her life, Gilbert O. Martinez, on April 19, 1942 in Solomon, AZ. Together, they have 7 Children, 43 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren. Alicia was known as a homemaker and a volunteer. Many considered her nothing less than a hero. She was a quick-witted woman who could catch others off guard with her one liners. She was also very well known for the amount of support she always gave and the encouraging words that always came with it, especially supporting her husband through his Diocese of Tucson Diaconate Program. For 50 years, she was an Avon Representative.
Alicia is survived by her 7 children; Gloria Martinez, Barbra Chavarria, Gilbert Martinez Jr., Danny Martinez, Margarita Valenzuela, Tom Martinez, Chris Martinez and her brother Mike Figueroa. As well as her 43 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Gilbert Martinez, her brothers Gilbert "Longo" Figueroa, Juan Figueroa, Joe Figueroa, Roberto Figueroa as well as her sisters Virginia Dominguez and Dalia Figueroa.
Services will be held on Wednesday June 27, 2018 at Our Lady Catholic Church in Solomon. viewing will begin at 8:00 a.m., then Rosary will follow at 9:00 a.m., mass will begin at 10:00 a.m.
