Alvin F. Krupp passed July 17, 2009 at his home in Safford. Born in 1919 to Safford pioneers Eli Paul and Rae Bellman Krupp, Alvin was raised in Safford where the Krupp name was synonymous with the Krupp Department Store and Bellmans Department Store on Main Street. Educated at Eastern Arizona College, he later received his J.D. degree from University of Arizona School of Law. Alvin served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European theater of operations with posts in both Europe and North Africa for which he was awarded the Bronze Star. Active in the Army Reserve, he retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Alvin established a private law practice in Safford and later was appointed City Attorney and elected County Attorney for Graham County. Once retired, Alvin traveled the world with his wife of 67 years, Janet Cohen Krupp, formerly of Tucson. He was pre-deceased by his brother Ted Krupp of Safford, Dr. Leon B. Krupp of El Paso, Texas and sister Dorothy Wolfson of San Diego, CA. Besides his wife, he is survived by his sister-in-law Merrill Krupp, nephews Paul Krupp and wife Susan, Mike Krupp and wife Nancy, grandnephews David Shalinsky and wife Janet, Max H. Krupp and wife Keri, Ted Krupp and wife Sarah, Joseph Krupp and wife Annika, Rob Krupp and wife Alysia and grandniece Keri Krupp Ng and spouse Chor, two grandnieces Emily and Claire Shalinsky and two great-grandnephews Alex and Adrian Ng. He leaves behind cherished Safford friends, physicians and caregivers. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Boys and Girls Club. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, July 22 at 1 p.m. in the Fort Bliss National Cemetery, El Paso, Texas.
