Ambrosio Anaya Romero, born on May 9th, 1928, passed away peacefully at his home in Duncan, Arizona on May 3rd, 2023 after being blessed with a long, healthy life of almost 95 years. He was born and raised in Reserve, New Mexico to parents Damian and Maria Romero along with 10 brothers and sisters. He moved to Morenci, Arizona at the age of 19 and began working for Phelps Dodge and retired after 44 years. He was a proud Army Veteran who served during the Korean War. Any time you saw him around town, he was proudly sporting his black baseball cap which said, “Korean Veteran”. On December 24, 1954, he married Mary Campbell and through this union they had four children: David Romero, Carrie Ulibarri, Andrew Romero and Cristina O’Coyne. After his wife passed away in 2002, he married Helen Nafarrate on February 24, 2004 who cared for him in his home until his passing.
Funeral Services will be held on May 11, 2023 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Morenci, Arizona with the viewing beginning at 9:00 a.m., Rosary at 9:30 a.m., and the funeral services following.
