Biography Anastacia Meraz Arrellin, 92, of Phoenix, or as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren as Chicken Nana, formerly of the Gila Valley, entered into rest on August 13, 2015 in Phoenix. She was born on April 15, 1923 in Miami, AZ, to Florencio and Christina Meraz. Anastacia was a devoted Catholic. She loved her family dearly. She loved to sew, embroider, cook, dance, listen to music, singing, and giving the best family parties. She is survived by her children, Dora Hernandez (Robert), of Phoenix; Ray Arrellin (Esther) of Albuquerque NM; Carmen Escobedo (Marvin) of Solomon; Isabel Garcia, of Page; Emily Farias (Roberto) of Waynesboro, GA; Ramona Rodriguez, of Phoenix; Elena Mora, of Phoenix; Angela Gonzales (Lupito) of Safford; Anita Arrellin of Phoenix; and Julian Arrellin (Patricia) of Globe; siblings, Maria Rodriguez of Los Angeles, CA; Elisa Aguirre of Indio, CA; Amelia Archuleta of Indio, CA; Juana Gutierrez of Coachella, CA; Teodoro Meraz of Alpaugh, CA; and Manuela Odell of Indio, CA; 45 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Candido Arrellin, and son, Alejandro Arrellin. Viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2015 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Safford. Rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. at the Church Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2015 by Rev. Father Robert Rodriguez, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Committal will follow in the Safford Cemetery.
