Angie Sawyer of Safford, AZ passed away on Monday January 30, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 20, 1923 to Ettorino and Victoria Cercone in Raton, NM.
She married the love of her life, Ed Sawyer, in 1947 in Phoenix Az. The family moved to Bisbee in 1957 and in 1970 they moved to Safford and opened their business.
Throughout her life, Angie actively participated in numerous community functions including; The Catholic Daughters, the hospital auxiliary, and the Democratic Party serving as precinct committee chair.
She is survived by her husband Ed, daughter Bette (Al) Newman, sons Tom (Cindy), Ed, Dennis, Greg and Cameron; eleven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by a sister Mary, brother Ralph, daughter-in-law Debbi, and grandson Jason.
A viewing will be held at St. Rose of Lima Church on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. followed with burial at the Safford Cemetery.
A luncheon will be held at the church hall at 11:45. Angie devoted her life to helping others; therefore, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MGRMC Hospital Auxiliary, The Catholic Daughters, S.E.A. Dementia Friendly Communities or Foreign Angels Charities.
