Ann Evans

Ann Johannes Evans passed away April 13, 2010, in Phoenix, Arizona. Born on April 29, 1920, in Willis, Kansas, she was the daughter of Frederick August and Grace (Hall) Johannes. Ann was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Ann Hamilton, and most recently by her husband of 69 years, Calvin Welker Evans, who passed away March 5, 2010. She attended Kansas State University before transferring to the University of Arizona where she met her future husband. She was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and was an active supporter of the Gamma Phi Beta Christmas House in Phoenix. Surviving are a sister, Geneva Fiske of Sun City, Arizona; a son, Philip Calvin Evans of Portola Valley, California; a son-in-law, Robert Lee Hamilton of Olympia, Washington; three grandchildren: Laura Hope Evans of New York City; Steven Lee Hamilton of Olympia, Washington; Cassie Hamilton Mahoney of Portland, Oregon; and two great-grandchildren. Burial will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at the Safford Cemetery.
