Barney Wood

Barney C. Wood, Jr., 88, entered into rest on Dec. 4, 2011 in Safford, AZ. He was born Dec. 18, 1922, in Hondo, TX to Barney C. Wood, Sr. and Mary Smith Wood. Barney was a very loving and compassionate person who always saw the best in family members and those he knew. He served as a deacon in the Morenci Southern Baptist Church. He also served in the army in WWII in Saipan and Hawaii. He worked all of his life as a carpenter. He is preceded in death by parents; his first wife Lula J. Wood; his son, David Lee Wood; and his brother John Wood. He is survived by his wife Clara Mae Wood; sons Barney Wood, William (Audrey) Wood; step-sons, Steve (Cindy) Hayden and Daryl Hayden; 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren. Services will be held at the Thatcher Southern Baptist Church on Dec. 9, 2011. Viewing will begin at 9 am followed by the funeral at 10 am. Interment will follow the funeral at the Wards Canyon Cemetery in Clifton. There will be a luncheon for family and friends at 2 pm at the Thatcher Southern Baptist Church located at 2934 W 8th St. Thatcher, AZ 85552
