Beatrice Harris

Beatrice Harris, 87, of Safford, entered into rest on Friday, May 25, 2012 at her home in Safford. She was born on February 15, 1925 in Ethel, Mississippi, to John Smith and Katie Black Smith. She married Kenneth Smith in January of 1943. Kenneth passed away and she married Floyd Dean Harris. Beatrice loved gardening, canning, ceramics, sewing, and quilting. She was actively involved in serving with the local Veterans. She served coffee at the Rest Stop. She gave birth to 8 children. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Smith of Elephant Butte, NM, James Smith of Los Lunas, NM, and Paul (Brenda) Smith of Thatcher; daughters, Joyce (Hugh) Buris, of Caballo, NM, Sharon Mascone of Albuquerque, NM, and Susan Holden of Safford; 10 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Dean Harris; son Therman Smith; and daughter, Debra Jean Smith. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the Caldwell Funeral Chapel. Viewing will be one hour prior to funeral. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m., on Friday, June 1, 2012 at Ft. Bayard VA Cemetery in Silver City, NM.
