Benny Grant Godfrey passed away suddenly at Monday July 17, 2017, at San Carlos Lake, doing what he loved, fishing.
Benny was born, the second son on January 31, 1940 to Grant and Clara Godfrey in Claypool, Az. He spent most of his life in the Safford Area, where he had numerous friends and relatives. His favorite pass time was fishing, and sharing his catch. He loved camping with his wife, Linda at Lake Powell, San Carlos Lake, Eagle Creek, on the beaches of Old Mexico, or anywhere he could possibly catch a fish.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years, Linda, four sisters, Lorraine Schultheis, Kay Stone (Tom), Pamela Powers (Tom), and Pat Arroyos (Art), a daughter, Denise Bieberstein (Robert), a son, Lathan Godfrey (Tammi) and daughter-in-law Brenda Nohl Sherman (Rusty), nine grandchildren, Whitney, Haley, Amanda, Audra, April, Candice, Nichele, Mikayla and Shani, 17 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
Benny was preceded in death by parents, Grant and Clara Godfrey, his daughter, Petrina Ladell, his brother, John Turner Godfrey, and his son Lance "Butch" Nohl.
He will be forever missed and never forgotten. Gone fishing for the last time.
A viewing will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. with the services on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Pima Cemetery.
