Bert Gardner

Bert Gardner 1925 ~ 2008 Bert Reid Gardner passed away peacefully Sunday evening, April 13, 2008, after recently celebrating his 83rd birthday with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born April 2, 1925 to Charles Orrin and Laura May Oberhansly Gardner in Hayden, Utah, the youngest of eight children. He married Yvonne Muir May 27, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had seven children but were later divorced. Bert attended school in Roosevelt, Utah, graduated from the University of Utah in Business, and started a successful sporting goods store in Roosevelt, later moving it to Provo, Utah. He and his family lived in Kailua, Hawaii for eight years. He loved the islands. Dad is survived by children: Randy (Becky), Dennis (Sherrie), Karen (Craig) Herzog, Glenn (Nancy), Mark (Alaine), Valerie and Paul (LeeAnn); 25 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Bert is preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters: Bernice Nelson, Melba (Babe) Swain, Berle Root, Ford Gardner, Faun Leavitt and Val Gardner. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 17, 2008, 10:00 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where a viewing will be held Thursday, 9-9:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Payson City Cemetery.
