Bessie Rowley

September 24, 1932 — May 14, 2010

Bessie H. Rowley, 77 of Thatcher passed away at her home on Friday, May 14, 2010. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 10 a.m. in the Thatcher LDS Stake Center with viewing 1 hour prior. Interment will follow in the Thatcher Cemetery. Bessie was born September 24, 1932 in Pima, Arizona to June William Hawk and Edna Marie Sledge Hawk. She married Harold Rowley and they were blessed with three children, Harold "Hal", Beckie and Marie. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served faithfully in many positions until the very end of her life. Bessie's husband Harold served as a member of the United States Air Force for twenty years and they were stationed in various parts of the world where together they raised their family and served their church and country well. After they retired from the Military they returned to their Home in the Gila Valley and settled in Thatcher on what is known as "Rowley Korner". Together they created a Garden of Eden that brought great pleasure to all who passed. Bessie worked as manager of the Thatcher School Cafeteria. The children especially enjoyed the holiday because she decorated the school and her yard for every occasion. She would add something new each day and the children would try to guess what it was. Bessie was preceded in death by her husband Harold, daughter Marie Roesner, son in-law Kim West, and Grandson Jonathon West. Bessie is survived by her sister Dorothy Hinton, son Hal (Becky) Rowley, daughter Beckie (Ben) Whitmer, son in-law Rick Roesner, 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
