Beth Pettit

Beth White Pettit 1919 ~ 2009 Beth Constance White Pettit passed peacefully from this earth Mary 27, 2009 surrounded by her loving family on both sides of the veil. Beth was born May 5, 1919 in Salt Lake City, Utah, five months after her father, Alvin Byron White, had died from the influenza epidemic. Her widowed mother, Zina Thorup White, raised Beth and her older brother, Byron W. White. Beth graduated from South High School and worked as a telephone switch board operator. On April 28, 1939 Beth married her high school sweetheart, Anthon Newel Pettit in Tooele, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized April 28, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Their seventy years of devotion to each other has greatly inspired their posterity. Beth leaves behind her loving eternal companion, Anthon Newel Pettit; 11 children: Gerald N. (Judy) Pettit, Herriman; Marilyn (Grant) Woolston, South Jordan; Marvin R. (Danna) Pettit, South Jordan; Ronda (LaMont) Nelson, Centerville; Margie Brock, Sandy; Jack B. (Karen) Pettit, Washington, UT; Jill (Ron) Johnson, South Jordan; Farrell R. (Leigh) Pettit, Mesa, AZ; Brent L. Pettit, Salt Lake City; Gayla (Val) Johnson, Litchfield Park, AZ; and Glen R. (Stacey) Pettit, West Jordan; and foster son, Dennis Pettey; 64 grandchildren; 125 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother; infant daughter, Rosella Beth Pettit; grandsons, Richard N. Pettit and Roger Williams Jr.; granddaughter, Heidi McCartney. Our mother loved to dance and sing with our father. Her interests included writing poetry, family history, oil painting, ceramics and crocheting. She was an amazing sewer who would make her childrens clothing, creating her own patterns out of newspaper. She was Mother of Year in Murray. She had a strong testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and taught her family the power of prayer. She was proud of her heritage and her posterity. We love and honor you always dear mother. Our thanks to our devoted father who has tenderly cared for our mother for the past several years. The Murray 28th Ward has greatly blessed our parents. We appreciate Silverado and CareSource for their assistance the past few months. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Church Building, 5555 So. 700 West. A viewing will be held Friday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Saturday at the church 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery
