Biography Betty Jane Bylas, 77, was born April 12, 1937. At young age she lost both of her parents. She was taken in to the home of her Aunt & Uncle, Rose & Wallace Johnson, together they raised her as their own daughter. She moved from Bylas to San Carlos and finally settled in Peridot. Betty went to Peridot Mission School and graduated from 8th grade. She then preceded on to high school at East Fork Mission for two years and went to finish the remaining years of high school at Tucson Indian School. After graduating she continued her education in North Dakota and transferred soon to Dallas, Texas where she finished nursing school. She then returned to Peridot and was employed with the San Carlos Indian Hospital where she retired from after 30 years of service. Betty had many hobbies including playing Bingo, crocheting, traveling and spending time with family and friends. In 2010 she was diagnosed with Leukemia which went into remission 2 years later. Shortly after getting that good news Betty was diagnosed with MDS, a terminal cancer, and was told that she wouldnt last long. She fought hard with her cancer and was able to last 2 more years. She finally lost her battle on Monday, July 21, 2014 and went home to be with the Lord. She is survived by her three sons; Albert (Tina) Bylas, Terry Johnson, Jerry (Jean) Dili, Jr., grandchildren; Kimberly (Benjamin) Reede, Garrison (Stephanie) Bylas, Desiree (Jeremy) Hill, Holly (Anthony) Sweed, Kristy, Tara, Tiffany, Keanu, Janelle, and Cassie Johnson, Jo Angel and Rosondo Dili, Goddaughter; Amber Ashkie, nine Great Grandchildren and countless amounts of family and friends. Betty is preceded in death by her parents; Albert & Effie Bylas, Aunt and Uncle; Rose & Wallace Johnson, brother; Romejo, sister; Alvina and daughter Lisa. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
