Betty Murdock, 76 of Safford passed away at her home on August 15, 2009. Betty was born on September 4, 1932 in Warsaw, Missouri to George & Katherine King. Betty was raised and educated in Safford and later married her sweetheart, Russ Murdock on February 15, 1946 in Lordsburg. Betty was an amazing wife, mother and homemaker. She was able to do anything she set her mind to. She was an accredited ceramist specializing in porcelain dolls. Many of her beautiful dolls can be seen at the Historical Society. Betty was blessed with a green thumb. She was had a wonderful flower garden and extensive vegetable garden. Her favorites included pink roses, square dancing, and taking classes at the college. Betty and Russ enjoyed spending their time together. Betty was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While living in Yuma, Betty and Russ served several stake missions to the Indians. They enjoyed serving in the Church in many different capacities. Betty is survived by her husband of 63 years, Russ Murdock, children, Carol Hulsey of Safford, Patricia (Gary) Belt of Missouri, Rusty (Max) Clifford of Wyoming, and Christopher Talley of Safford and sister Dorothy Jones of Nevada. She was preceded in death by her daughter Jessie Rains. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, August 20 at 2 p.m. in the Safford LDS Stake Center.
