Biography Billie Kay Hinton, 76, of Ft. Thomas, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 4, 1936 in Ft. Thomas to Willie Hinton and LaVona Peck Hinton. Billie Kay spent his life on the Goodwin Ranch and in Fort Thomas. He graduated from Ft. Thomas High School, and then earned his Bachelor Degree in Education from ASU. He was teaching school at the age of 20. He later earned his Masters in Administration from U of A, but he remained a diehard Sun Devils Fan. Billie Kay started teaching school in Pima before teaching in Ft. Thomas. He spent over 32 years as an educator, over half of that time as the Principal of the Ft. Thomas Elementary School. During that time he also served as the varsity assistant basketball coach with his friend and associate Marlin Honk Norton. Following his retirement he worked as the stockman of the Tonto Cattlemans Association for eight years. During his tenure as stockman he broke four horses with his son Riley. In 2007 he started his partnership in the Bryce Mountain Ranch; which he ran until his death. He is survived by his sons, Wil (Patti) Hinton of Ft. Thomas, and Riley (Lupita Lou) Hinton of Ft. Thomas; and daughter, Heide (Collier) Hill of Tucson; grandchildren, Lacie Hinton, Tori Hinton, Erik Hinton, Houston Tye Hinton, Kayla (Heath) Berryhill, Jayme Hinton, Jace Hinton, Cheyenne Hinton, Riiley Hinton, Wacy James Hinton, Cydnee Hill, Caylor Hill, and Caleb Hill; great grandchildren, Hoyt Berryhill and Coltin Berryhill; brother, James (Fauna) Hinton of Show Low; sisters, LaNell (Larry Sr.) Douglas of Eden, and Mary Beth (Bruce) Weddle of Ft. Thomas. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Ft. Thomas Old Gym. Visitations will be on Friday, April 19, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at the Caldwell Funeral Chapel, 112 East Main, Safford, and one hour prior to services on Saturday in Ft. Thomas. Interment will be in the Bryce Cemetery.
