Billy Blunt Arthur, 93, most recently of Safford, was lifted up by our Heavenly Father on October 10, 2016, at his daughter in law's home surrounded by family. Billy was born October 3, 1923 in Louisiana, Missouri to parents William Arthur and Lela Blunt.
Billy proudly served in the Army during WWII and was stationed in The Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe as an anti-aircraft artillery gunner. During his military career Billy became a boxer and was very successful.
Billy's passion was NASCAR racing and over the years he traveled to almost all of the famous race tracks in America. He traveled across the US over 4 times to be at the different races. At the Dover race track Billy was actually able to drive one of the professional race cars. He and his son Butch were avid Chicago Bears fans, and together, father and son would be the loudest in any situation routing for their team.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents William and Lela Arthur and son Butch.
Billy is survived by his wife Ruth Arthur, sister Flora Doyle, daughter Sandra (Joe) Mucinski, Step-daughter Gini (John) Cassidy, daughter in law Bonnie Dalzine, 6 Grandchildren, Great- Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great-Grandchild.
Billy was blessed with many great family and friends. Billy will truly be missed, also by his sense of humor and the creative MacGyver creations that he would make.
Military Honors for Billy were presented by the Gila Valley Honor Guard following a private memorial service on Thursday, October 13, 2016 held at McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel.
