Bob Buckner

Bobby Scott Buckner, 76, of Virden, NM, passed away August 9, 2014 at his home with his loving family at his side. Bobby was born January 3, 1938 to George Lloyd and Pearl Roberts Buckner in McKinney, TX. Bobby worked in the Copper mining industry but his love was for fishing, football, NASCAR, auto mechanics, camping and going to church. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Duncan, DeMolay and the Masonic Lodge. He married Sharon Lee Yates on December 27, 1957 in Morenci, AZ at the First Southern Baptist Church. Some of the greatest events in his life were his second marriage to the love of his life; Sharon Buckner, which was his first and only wife, the day he became a Christian, and the births of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bobby is survived by his wife of 57 years; Sharon Lee Buckner, children; Vince Everett Buckner, Phyllis Ann McQuigg and Edith Elizabeth Parsons, sister; Wanda Fay Richardson, brother; Harold Dean Buckner, 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; George Lloyd and Pearl Elizabeth Buckner, his grandson; Everett Scott Buckner and brother; George Lloyd Buckner, Jr. A viewing for Bobby will be on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with the services following at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Duncan. Interment followed in the Duncan Cemetery.
