Boyce Mills

Boyce Terrell Terry Mills, Jr., 70 of Safford passed away January 27, 2014. Terry was born June 12, 1943 to Boyce and Georgia Walker Mills, Sr. in Sand Springs, OK. Terrys step-father was in the military and moved around a lot. The family was stationed in Ft. Huachaca and Terry attended school in Bisbee, where he excelled in track. He met his wife Sheila during his freshman year and they married shortly after graduation. Terry went to work for Phelps Dodge Mining Company, worked his way up to manager and retired in 2004. In his free time, Terry enjoyed writing poetry and taking his Polaris on adventures in the desert. He remained good friends with all the people he grew up with in Bisbee. Terry had a lifelong love of fishing. At the age of 2 he would be asked what he had been up to and his response was pissing with my pissing pole. Terry his survived by his wife, Sheila; daughter, Linda; and two grandchildren. Terry wrote this poem in 2007: Just A Man Who am I, a question often asked, but never truly answered. I am just a man, nothing outstanding, nothing spectacular, just a man. Born into this world Fatherless, the road to manhood would become long and hard. A struggle to be accepted occupied my childish thoughts, too young to understand so I mostly cried alone. Blessed with a Mother, who loved without shame, she did so in earnest and helped ease my childhood pain. Lessons learned along the way lit my path and shaped my future, I no longer struggle and I no longer cry alone. Father, husband, friend, lover, yea, all in the same yet none of the same. Do you really know me? Have you felt my pain, or my happiness, have you stopped to really see this person who stands before you? Remember me not, for what you perceive to be true, but what your heart has felt and the wonderful memories we shared. A Memorial Service will be held, Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Caldwell Funeral Chapel in Safford.
