Brad Schmidt

November 24, 1976 — September 28, 2007

Brad Forest Schmidt 11/24/76 ~ 9/28/07 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Our beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandson and friend, Brad Forest Schmidt, age 30, passed away on September 28, 2007 at home encircled in the arms of his sweet wife and surrounded by family members after a valiant three-year battle with brain cancer. Brad faced his illness with great dignity, patience and courage, setting a powerful example for all who knew him. His quiet, strong and steady faith has touched the lives of many. Brad was born November 24, 1976 in Murray, Utah to Douglas and Janice Schmidt. He loved the outdoors and sports, especially basketball. He graduated in 1995 from West Jordan High School, where he played on the basketball team. He was a licensed general contractor. On May 15, 1999, he married his sweetheart, Gayla Grundvig, in the Jordan River Temple. He was a wonderful husband and father who loved and cherished his family. He is survived by his wife, Gayla; sons, Justin Brad and Luke Gail; parents; brothers and sisters: Cory and Amber Schmidt, Mike Schmidt and Shannon Gracen, Heidi Schmidt, Cindy and Aaron Holtom; grandmother, Vernelda Washburn. Brad also loved and was loved by Gaylas parents, Gail and Loretta Grundvig and her family: Brenda and Troy Speirs, Amanda and Kevin Patton, Denise and Nathan Holland. His nieces and nephews adored him. Preceded in death by his grandparents: Forest Washburn; Frank and Genevieve Schmidt. We wish to thank the many wonderful friends, neighbors, cousins and other family members who have given such loving service to Brad and his family. They have been shining examples of unconditional love and Christ-like service. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2007, 12:00 noon at the Herriman Hills Ward located at 5246 West Gossamer Way (13780 South). A viewing will be held Monday from 5-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services. Interment, Herriman City Cemetery.
