Brenda Applegate

Brenda Kay Applegate (Bigler) was born September 6, 1953 in Safford, Arizona to Jacob and Verna Bigler. She was the oldest child and only daughter. She had three younger brothers and was raised in Central, Arizona and was active in the LDS Church while she attended grade school at the Thatcher Public Schools and graduated from Thatcher High School. She attended Eastern Arizona College and was one of the first students to graduate from the Nursing Program. She worked at the Safford Hospital after graduation and later moved to Mesa and worked as a surgical nurse. While in Mesa she met and married Clyde Applegate in the Mesa Temple. They made their home in Florence and raised three children. She worked at the Pinal General Hospital as well as Pinal County Public Health, Sheriffs Department Medical and Arizona State Prison Medical. She was always active in the LDS Church, serving in many organizations including ward organist. Music was an active part of her life and she shared her knowledge and love of music with her family and others. She loved to crochet, bake and was also an avid scrapbooker. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Mark Bigler and Darrell Bigler. She is survived by her husband Clyde Applegate of Florence; her son, Jason Applegate of Florence; her daughter Kam (Russell) Gibson of Tucson; her daughter, Megan (Cody) Carpenter of Florence; and her brother Ron Bigler of Phoenix. She has three grandsons; David Gibson, Porter Gibson and Hyrum Gibson of Tucson and her granddaughter Randi Carpenter of Florence Services for Brenda will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at the old Central LDS Church. A viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. Bishop Rob Pursley will conduct the services. Interment and dedication of the grave will take place at the Central Cemetery immediately following the funeral.
