Brenda Benitez

Biography Brenda Joyce Benitez, 50 , of Pima, passed away after a long courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center. She was born on December 31, 1960 in Safford to Douglas David Hawkins and Edith Jean Foster. She married Bobby Joe Benitez on December 19, 1987 in Morenci, AZ. Brenda was a Ray of Sunshine on a Cloudy Day. She graduated from Pima High School, and attended E.A.C. graduating with a Business Degree. She worked in the Gila Valley for many businesses, and for the past five years at the Taylor Freeze, in Pima. She was an Avid Phoenix Suns fan, she loved Christmas and always started celebrating early, usually the first of November. She loved her family and always made it a point to tell them she loved them. She is survived by her husband Bobby of Pima; daughter, Sharla (Gabriel) Sanchez of Eden; son, Bobby Benitez, Jr. of Pima; father, Douglas David Hawkins of Pima, sisters, Sue (Sam) Smith of Pima, and Cathy (Marvin) Ray of San Jose; brother, Jimmy Hawkins of Wichita Falls, TX; and grandchildren, Brian and Analicia. She was preceded in death by her mother and sister Carolyn Jean. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at the Pima LDS Stake Center. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the Eden Cemetery.
