Carl McKay Skinner 1914 ~ 2009 Carl McKay Skinner age 94, left this earthly existence on February 26, 2009 at home surrounded by those who loved him. Born on July 3rd, 1914 in Joseph ,Utah of goodly parents Richard Edward Skinner and Sarah Lucinda Wells. He always said that he was almost a firecracker. Carl Skinner was the 10th child of 15 children. He was known to his parents as the tithing child. He married Mabel Christensen and had three children, Lyle (deceased), Judy and Annette. Later divorced. Married Cathryn Hardman, his wife of 43 years. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity on June 11, 1971 Together they raised six children. From these nine children came 30 grandchildren and 51 great grandchildren. Two weeks ago when asked what had been his favorite things in life, he said his family. Carl Skinner proudly served his country in the European Theatre during World War II in the United States Army. Upon leaving the army, Carl was employed at Mountain Bell where he retired after 41 years of service. Carl served in many callings and leadership positions within the LDS Church including the Bishopric, Stake High Council, and High Priest Leadership. He was especially proud to serve as ward financial clerk to 5 Bishops. He loved to watch the Utah Jazz, liked to go to the cabin especially during hunting seasons to be with his boys. He loved to travel in his motor home across the country, and wintering in Quartzite, Arizona. Survived by his wife; Children: Judy (Phil) Chatwin, Annette (Doyle) Page, Patricia (Larry) Brinkerhoff, Rick Hansen, Mel (Sandra) Hardman, Melanie (Kevin) Thorpe, Robinn (Dennis) Webster, Edward (Melissa) Skinner. The family would like to thank Gina, Mary Ann, Amanda Kay, and Joe from Affinity Hospice for all of their compassion and care. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Riverside 1st Ward Chapel, 1148 West 500 North, Salt Lake City. There will be a viewing on Sunday evening, March 1, 2009 at the McDougal Funeral Home 4330 South, Redwood Road, Salt Lake City from 6:00-8:00 P.M. A viewing will also be held on Monday, March 2, 2009 from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. at the Riverside 1st Ward Chapel prior to the funeral. Internment at Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 East, Bengal Blvd. Salt Lake City.
