Carl Arthur Watson, age 62, lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, Sept. 28 at Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center. Carl, also known as Rojoe, in the band duo Rojoe & Sapphire, and CW as a radio host, was born in Mesa, AZ to parents Calvin Ray Watson (deceased) and Mary Elizabeth DeSpain Watson. Carls siblings include Michael Ray Watson, Mary Margaret White Norton and Paul Martin Watson. Carl married his high school sweetheart in 1982, Sharon Thacker, also known as Sapphire in his band duo. Together they have lived in Mesa, Arizona and Ramah, New Mexico, and they currently live in Central, Arizona. Carl has eight children: Leashya Munyon, Tabitha Orwin, Diana Hearn, Brandon Watson, Cameron Watson, Sheldon Watson, Amanda Howard and Brianna Watson. Carl also has 12 grandchildren. Carls entrepreneurial profession included many jobs, such as, a country musician (Rojoe & Sapphire and the group Tribute), a radio host, and owning and operating several businesses. Carl had a heart of gold and offered his services to those in need. Some of the charities Carl supported and championed are: the 4th of July Celebration, Project Luke, Safford Lions Club (President and member), and President of the Board of Directors of GCRC. Carl devoted his life to mentoring others and using his life experiences as teaching moments. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the Pima LDS Stake Center with Bishop Rob Pursley officiating. Viewing will be on Friday, October 10, from 6-8 pm at the Pima LDS Stake Center, and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Central Cemetery. Carl best lived his life by these words from M. Russell Ballard: Because of Jesus Christ, peace can replace guilt; healthy relationships can be restored; addictions can be overcome.
