Biography Carlos Luna Barquin, 78, of Thatcher, entered into rest on Friday, April 15, 2011 at the Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center in Safford. He was born on January 7, 1933 in Morenci, AZ to Juan and Soledad Barquin. He met the love of his life Helen, in 1948, and they were married in 1952. To this union was born four children: Brenda, Patty, Jerry, and Carl. Carlos and Helen made their home in Arizona for most of their lives. He retired from Phelps Dodge Corporation after 28 years of service. Throughout the years he served in various volunteer organizations in Graham County. When he retired, he kept busy by working for KE&G Construction of Sierra Vista, and Mt. Graham golf course. Carlos was a friend to all and he never met a stranger. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he will be missed by all. Carlos is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen; daughters, Brenda (Mike) Figueroa of Thatcher, and Patty Saunders of Tucson, sons, Jerry (Sandra) Barquin of San Antonio, TX and Carl Barquin of Tucson, five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his: parents Juan and Soledad Barquin, brother John Barquin, grandson Emilio Aguirre Jr., granddaughter Christina Figueroa and great granddaughter Saybonet Aguirre. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Living Walls Fellowship, on the corner of 6th Avenue and 12th Street in Safford. Friends may come to the church one hour prior to service for a viewing. Pastor Ron Gonzales will be officiating. Interment will be at the Thatcher Cemetery.
