Carmen Torrio Romero, 90 of Thatcher passed away May 2, 2011 in the Sunset Hills Care Center. She was born July 27, 1920 in Georgetown, New Mexico to Carlos & Juanita Torrio. Carmen married Jimmie Romero and they had 13 children. After Jimmie passed away, Carmen continued raising the children, worked as a nurses aide and attended work related classes at EAC. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and reading her bible. Carmen is survived by her children- Tony (Irene) Romero of San Manuel, Angel Romero of Tucson, David (Ann) Romero of Thatcher, Todd (Irene) Romero of Willcox, Betty Wilson of Tucson, Mary Ellen (Joe) Lovato of Globe, Ophelia Romero of Tucson, Cornia (John) Rios of Bowie, Henry (Tina) Romero of Safford, Harold Romero of Safford, Becky Romero of Phoenix, 32 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 19 great great grandchildren, brothers Porfidio Torrio of Mendota, CA, and Charlie Torrio of Mesa. She was preceded in death by her husband Jimmie, and sons Edwardo and Michael Romero. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Edward Lucero on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Rose of Lima Church. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday morning from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. followed by recitation of the Rosary at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Thatcher Cemetery.
