Carol Carrell

Carol Wilkerson-Carrell's birthplace was Mimbres, New Mexico, where she was born on December 27th, 1934, to Velma Lois McClane-Shelly and Worthington McKindree Shelley. Carol entered into rest on November 23, 2023 in Young, Arizona.

1952, Carol wedded Gordon Wilkerson, and they were blessed with three children-Daphene Wilkes (married to Robert Lewis), Keith Wilkerson (married to Leah Wilkerson), and Wordy Byron Wilkerson, who passed away on May 28th, 2017.

After Gordon's death, she married Robert Carrell in 1977 and her family grew to include step daughter Jana Reed (married to Richard Reed), and stepson Danny Carrell (married to Sherri Carrell).

She loved nothing more than working out with her kiddos at the ranch, alongside her husband Gordon. In 1952, she joined the Greenlee County Cowbelles and held various offices through out her active years. In 1963, she and 17 other ranch wives banded together to show their husbands what they were made of and founded the Cowbelle Trailriders! Believe it or not, she was the ONLY founding member who sadaled up for the trail rides for 52 years straight!

Carol never let life pass her by, cheering on her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids at every rodeo and sports game. Her joyous Laugh was like music to our ears, and boy, could she move! Even on her last day, she would still tap her feet to the beat of any tune that came her way.

Although we will miss her dearly, we take comfort in knowing that she has been embraced by the love and warmth of our Lord and Savior. She has been reunited with her loved ones - her son, husband, dad, momma, and siblings. We can only imagine them sitting around the card table with cards dealt, eagerly awaiting her arrival.

The services for her will be held at the Baptist church in Duncan Arizona at 11:00a.m. on December 27th, 2023.
