Carol Lane DiBartola, 81, of Safford, AZ passed away January 14, 2014, at her home with family and her loving husband of 63 years at her side. She was born on September 30, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA, to Clement Paul Lane and Katheryn Mercedes Wolfe Lane. She married Philip Edward DiBartola Jr. on January 27th 1951 in Pittsburgh, PA. Carol and Phil began their married life in Baltimore MD and in 1959 moved to San Diego California where they raised their family of five children. In 1987 Carol and Phil retired to Roosevelt, UT and in 2002 moved to Safford, AZ. It was Carol's passion to explore life with an open mind. She was an avid reader and always had at least one good book or more going at a time. Carol was an auxiliary volunteer (Pink Lady) throughout many years. She served at Clairemont Community Hospital, San Diego, CA, Uintah Basin Medical Center, Roosevelt, UT and Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center., Safford, AZ. She was a Mother to five of her own children but often became the surrogate Mom to many more. She had a tremendous loving spirit that could be felt by all that came to know her. Your sweet and gentle soul will be dearly missed but we know you are reunited with Daddy, Mother and Patty. Our love is forever, until we see you again Mom you are in our hearts always. She is survived by her husband Philip DiBartola of Safford; sons, Philip (Clardon) Edward DiBartola III of Litchfield Park, AZ, and Edward Richard DiBartola of Riverside, CA; daughters, Jennifer (Gary) Elliott of Ramona, CA, and Annette (Robert) Marie Wheeler, of Salisbury, NC; brother Paul Lane of Washington D.C., 10 Grandchildren and 15 Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Patricia Joette DiBartola Dee. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Mt. Graham Hospice. A special thanks to Melissa, Tanner, John and Adriann for their professionalism and the compassionate care of our Mother. The family would also like to thank Jean Naegle, Caregiver.
