Carol Dian Layton Hart, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on December 21, 1944, in Graham County, Carol was the cherished daughter of Haskell and Alice Layton.
Carol spent much of her life in Graham County, though she ventured to the Phoenix area during her early adulthood before returning to her roots. On July 24, 1967, she married the love of her life, Don Hart, and together they built a loving family with their sons, Greg Alan Hart and Jason Edward Hart. Carol and Don were also actively involved in the Elks Club, where they contributed to their community and enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow members.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents Haskell and Alice, and her brothers, Joe Layton and Delta Layton. She was a gentle soul with a remarkable sense of elegance and loyalty. Her life was marked by beauty, grace, and a deep love for her family. Carol took great joy in traveling with her sisters, mother and niece, often reminiscing about their trips to Hawaii and dreaming of returning.
In her professional life, Carol worked for Valley National Bank, the Safford School District, and was a dedicated Avon Sales Representative. Among her many accomplishments, her greatest pride and joy were her boys and her grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her devoted husband, Don Hart; her sisters, Peggy Riley (Richard) and Barbara Bryce (Gary); her sons, Greg Hart (Melissa) and Jason Hart (Alicia); and her beloved grandchildren, Riley, Mitchell, Callie, Shayla Rae, Austin, Makenzie, and Jaxon.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. in the Safford Cemetery.
Carol's memory will be cherished by all who knew her. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and friends will be profoundly missed.
