Casey Garcia, 89 of Pima passed away with his family by his side in Yuma on May 4, 2010. Casimiro "Casey" M. Garcia was born April 12, 1921 in San Jose, AZ to Jose and Isabel Garcia. He graduated high school and served in the Army as a Staff Sgt. during WWII and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was active in the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Pima Town Council, Irrigation Board, Hospital Board and the Farm Bureau. Casey worked hard to provide for his family by farming and raising cattle. He enjoyed restoring old tractors and farm equipment. Casey was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years Mary Louise, parents, siblings Concha Escobedo, Dora Gauna, & Alejandro Garcia. He is survived by his children Rick Garcia, Danny Garcia, Vivian Klee, Sandi McCullar and sister Sophia Navarette. The family will receive friends at the St. Rose of Lima Church on Thursday, May 13 at 6 p.m. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Thomas Dekka on Friday morning at 10 am. Interment will follow in the Safford Cemetery.
