Catherine Kay Nellie Woodruff Noble Mother Catherine Nellie VandenAkker Woodruff passed away July 20, 2008 after suffering a second major stroke. She left this life as she lived, with order and dignity, while attended by her family. She was born May 11, 1913 in Salt Lake City, Utah, daughter of Leonard and Marie Unck VandenAkker. Married George Fred Judd Woodruff September 4, 1931 in Mammoth, Utah; solemnized June 15, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was an artist, good cook and seamstress. Worked at Granite School District, Seville Reception Center and for 35 years at McDougal Funeral Home. She was an active member of the LDS Church where she served as an organist since the age of 12. She also served in various callings in Primary and Sunday School and had the honor of working with her beloved husband, Judd, as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple. Survived by children: Lynda Ellis, Anita (Blaine) Lund and George (Shari) Woodruff; 17 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; siblings: John VandenAkker, Trudy Frame, Marietta Buma, Dick (Betty) VandenAkker, Leona (Leonard) Telford and Melvin (Mildred) VandenAkker. Preceded in death by her husband; sister, Henrietta; brother, Leonard. Kay was always a lady. Through her living examples she taught us about love, unselfish caring, service, hard work, commitment, dedication to family, and righteous living. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Alta Ridge at Holladay for their loving and respectful care. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 26, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at the Taylorsville Stake Center, 1400 West 4800 South. A viewing will be held Friday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Saturday at the church,10-10:40 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
