Biography Cecilia Sandoval Gonzalez, 81, of Clifton joined our Lord on May 1, 2010. She was born November 21, 1928 in Clifton, AZ to Diega Jacobo and Arcadio Sandoval. She is a graduate of Clifton High School where she was Class B Womens State tennis champion. In 1947 Cecilia married Richard Gonzalez of Morenci, the man she would spend the next 62 years with. They lived in Clifton where they raised 5 children. Cecilia was a member of Beneficio Proprio. She was a CCD Teacher at Sacred Heart Church in Clifton, where she was also a member and Director of the Sacred Heart Choir for more than 50 years. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Softball Team. She enjoyed bowling, camping and fishing with her family. She is survived by her children Carolyn of Safford, Richard (Susan) of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Anna (Frank) Berens of Safford, Susan (Jim) Mathis of Clifton, Geraldine Gina of Clifton, 23 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren and her sister Candelaria Hopper of San Antonio, Texas. Cecilia is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Richard, her parents Diega and Arcadio Sandoval, her siblings Nicholas and Juan Cazarez, Irene Delgado and Ophelia Sanchez. Services will be conducted on Friday, May 7, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Viewing will begin at 9 a.m. followed by recitation of the Rosary at 10 a.m. and celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m.
