Cheryl Lee Goodman, 62, from Central formerly of Safford, entered into eternal rest on the evening of July 19, 2018 in Tucson AZ. She was born December 4, 1955 to Lamar & Vera (Hancock) Johnson with siblings Donna, Delbert, Mary Lola, Linda and Vicki.
Cheryl attended schools in Safford, graduating from Safford High School in 1973. While in high school, she enjoyed participating in many different activities and clubs a couple of which were dancing on the Pom Pom squad and NHS.
Cheryl met Steve Goodman in November 1974 through mutual a friend and they soon fell in love. The couple was married on May 10, 1975 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Cheryl loved being able to remain at home to raise their children. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a full-time mission with her husband in Arkansas after his retirement. After the couple returned home, she began serving in the Gila Valley Temple.
Cheryl loved to travel, go to the mountains, watch the Diamondbacks (when they are winning), playing cards, spending time with her sisters, and meeting new people. Above all, she loved being with her children and looked forward most to holidays and having her family together. Cheryl was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was always serving others. She firmly believes in Eternal Families.
She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Steve Goodman, her children; Troy (Shauna) Goodman, Joshua (Natalie) Goodman, Palmer (Becca) Goodman, Angela (Brian) Paull, Christopher (Teesha) Goodman & Amy (Dale) Bodine, her siblings; Donna (Brad) DeSpain, Delbert (Joyce) Johnson, Mary Lola Jones and Vicki Grenier. She is also survived by 22 Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren.
Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents Lamar & Vera Johnson and her sister Linda Norton.
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends and all who were blessed to know her.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening, July 24th, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel and again on Wednesday morning, July 25th at 9:00 a.m. at the Safford LDS Stake Center. Funeral Services for Cheryl Lee Goodman will then follow at 10:00 a.m. with Bishop Floyd Nuttall conducting. Interment will follow in the Gila Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
