Christine Pacheco

April 4, 1926 — May 1, 2012

Biography Christine Salazar Pacheco, Kipi, as she was known by her family and friends; passed away at her home on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, with a loving and heartbroken family at her side. Her commitment to the family, her compassion for others, and her unconditional love for God and all his works were a guiding light in her life. Christine was born April 1, 1926 in Bonita, the seventh of eight children, born to Guadalupe and Theresa Salazar of Aravaipa Canyon. She grew up on the family cattle ranch, surrounded by the panoramic splendor of the upper Aravaipa and the love and music of a large circle of family and relatives. When Christine was 15, her mother sent her to live in Benson with her older sister Clara Caballero, so she could attend High School. She later moved to Safford and graduated from Safford High School. On June 3, 1950 she married the love of her life, Alex Pacheco; and together they increased the population of this world by four. Over the course of her life, besides raising children; Christine ran the office of the family owned automotive garage, Custom Auto Service. Later she would work 16 years in auto registration for the Graham County Assessors office and Arizona Dept. of Motor Vehicles. Christine was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America and devoted to the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Christine was preceded in death by her husband Alex, but more recently by a sister Lola Acevedo, brother Tex Salazar; and sisters-in-law Helen Craig and Mary Antillon, all of the Gila Valley. She is survived by one sister Clara Caballero, daughter Gloria Langston, and 3 sons, Arthur (Anna) Pacheco of Tucson, David Pacheco and Robbie Pacheco, 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with viewing and Rosary beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Interment will follow afterwards in Aravaipa Canyon. The family would like to thank the Hospice Center and all of its staff for the wonderful work that they do. You certainly are a bright spot in this sometimes muddled world. I cant help but smile when I think of Mom arriving at the Pearly Gates. St. Peter most certainly has his hands full; with Mom either trying to feed him or give him a dollar to buy candy with! Good luck St. Peter, she never stops. God bless you Mom, con todo mi amor.
