Clara C. Gonzalez, 88, of Thatcher, entered into rest on Monday, July 11, 2011 at her daughter's home in Tucson. She was born on January 19, 1923 in Dragoon, AZ, to Juan Castillo and Sebastiana Banuelos. Clara was voted, Best Mother, every year by her children. She was the best tortilla maker, and wonderful cook. She also loved to sew and garden. Her most meaningful life events were the births of her children. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Lou (Arlene) Gonzalez of Tucson, and Deedee Gonzalez of Casa Grande; sons, Jose (Jane) Gonzalez of Tucson, Joe (Sonya) Gonzales of Tucson, and Danny (Debbie) Gonzales of Safford; 19 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, four great, great grandchildren, and 1 great, great, great grandchild. She was preceded in death by Gumercindo Gonzalez, Lilly Gonzalez, Toni Gonzalez, and Henry Gonzalez. Mass of a Christian Burial will celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2011 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Safford, with Rev. Father Edward Lucero as Celebrant. Friends may call on Sunday, July 17, from 6-8 p.m. with rosary being recited at 7 p.m., at The Caldwell Funeral Chapel, 112 East Main Street in Safford. Interment will be in the Thatcher Cemetery.
