Clarence Bartel 1918 ~ 2009 Clarence Bartel, 91, passed away July 11, 2009 in Sandy, Utah. He was 91 years old. He was born February 14, 1918 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the son of Gustaf Adolf and Pauline Gorning Bartel. He was one of ten children. He was proud of his military service. He served in the US Army during World War II as a medic in the Phillippines. He lived in Ohio and California for many years before moving to Utah. He worked in the construction industry. He had a life long love of construction. He was talented and skilled in woodworking. He enjoyed salmon fishing in the ocean, playing cards, traveling and especially loved his dog, Apri. He loved, and was loved, by his family. His sense of humor and kindness blessed many. He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters and five brother. He is survived by his sister, Lillian Hvzid; niece Janet Coleman; great-nephews Dean (Ann) Coleman and Craig (Beth) Coleman; great-niece, Jacquelyn (Pat) Heaney; their families and many family members in Ohio. The family would like to express appreciation to Atria, Haven Home Health and Dr. Thomas Dietz for their care of Clarence. A memorial service will be held Friday, 7:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road.
