Clayton Boyd Sanders Sandy/Sam Clayton Boyd Sanders passed away January 4, 2008, in Salt Lake City, Utah, of cancer. He was born December 31, 1926, in Hurricane, Utah to Grant and Ines Wright Sanders. He spent his school years in Hurricane, until enlisting in the United States Navy in 1944. He served in the South Pacific in World War II as a radar and radio technician and was honorably discharged in 1946. Clayton married Bessie June Talbot on November 14, 1946. Working for the Union Pacific Railroad, in the communications department, they moved to several small towns along the railroad before settling in Salt Lake City in 1949. He retired after 40 years of loyal service. He is survived by his loving wife, Bessie; son Robert Boyd of Ogden; daughter Susan of Springdale; brother Mack Sanders and sister Bonnie Sheffield; sisters-in-law Bonnie Talbot, Winona Fullmer (Bill); brother-in-law Ralph Green. He was preceded in death by his parents; in laws Leland and Laura Talbot; sister Idonna Green; sister-in-law Barbara Sanders and grandson Christopher Max Freestone. Funeral services will he held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 7, 2008, at Jordan View Ward, 1165 W. 2320 S., West Valley. Friends and family may call on Sunday, January 6 from 5-7 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in Salt Lake City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, our family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
