Cleora Colvin

Cleora Cluff McBride Colvin was born on February 28,1924, to the late Vernon Howard and Pearl Allen Cluff. She died September 2, 2015, at her daughter's home in Lakeside, Arizona due to complications related to end-stage dementia. She was 91 years old. Cleora was born and reared in Pima, Arizona. Her family was one of the founding families in the Gila Valley. There, she met & married Dewaine James McBride on April 13, 1943. It was during World War II, in the Battle of the Bulge, that Dewaine was killed on January 5,1945. Just a few weeks later their son, Cris Dewaine McBride was born. On May 30,1951, Cleora married Wayne L. Colvin, also from Pima. They lived in Yuma for a few years, during which time their first daughter Rula Jean was born, followed by their second daughter, Brenda Sue. For most of their married life (32 years), they lived in Gila Bend. Wayne & Cleora managed the Dana Brother's Regal Gas Station on the West end of town. They had their son Gary Lester soon after moving to Gila Bend. Cleora also spent time working at the Travelodge as the night auditor, cooked at Wright's Dining Room and worked 17 years for the U.S. Post Office, until she retired in 1986. In 1988 they sold their home in Gila Bend and were called to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for one year in Tallahassee, Florida. At the end of their mission, they moved to Show Low, where Cleora lived until 2010. She then moved to Lakeside to live with her daughter Brenda. Her husband, Wayne, died May 2002. Cleora was a faithful and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her entire life. She served in many positions including: Relief Society President, Primary President, Ward Organist & Chorister. She served many years with her husband Wayne as a Stake Missionary in Show Low. She also worked alongside him in the ADAM program until his death. She is preceded in death by her parents, both husbands; sisters, Glenna Foote, Mildred Kirby, & Verna Carter; brother, Gale Howard Cluff; brothers-in-law, Ray Foote, Ray Kirby & Irvin Carter; daughter-in-law, Barbara West McBride; grandchildren, Carol Ann McBride & Kristi McBride Williamson. Cleora is survived by her children; Cris (Virginia) McBride of Pinetop, Arizona, Rula Colvin of Mesa, Arizona, Brenda Colvin of Lakeside, Arizona and Gary (Lynette) Colvin of San Tan Valley, Arizona. She has: 11 grandchildren (2 deceased); 17 great-grandchildren & 1 great-great grandchild. The funeral service will begin 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 10, 2015, at the Pinetop-Lakeside Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1520 Church Road in Lakeside, where additional visitation will begin 1 hour prior. The graveside service and interment will begin 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 11, 2015, at the Pima Cemetery in Pima Arizona.
