Consuelo Garcia

Consuelo "Connie" Garcia entered heaven's gates on September 13, 2019 in Safford, AZ. She was born in Solomonville, AZ on March 28, 1939 to parents Raul B. Herrera & Rosaura Molina Herrera. Connie was the most loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, great-great-great grandmother and the best homemaker and a remarkable cook. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially during the holidays. Connie lived in Old Morenci and attended Morenci Schools. She then met the love of her life and childhood sweetheart, Arthur "Tudy" Garcia. They were married, raised a family and lived happily ever after until her diagnosis with Lewy Body Dementia, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's plus. Connie's two daughters, Sally Cervantez and Deborah "Debbie" Brinkley, cared for their mother for five years with the assistance of her grandson Willis Brinkley and the mother of his child, Rhea Tucker. Once bedridden, Connie required a higher level of care and Haven of Safford provided that care for a year and seven months. The family gives them and everyone else who cared for Connie their greatest and warmest gratitude. She is survived by her two daughters Sally (Robert) Cervantez and Deborah "Debbie" (Steve) Brinkley. She is also survived by her brother Raul (Victoria) Herrera and her sister Yolanda (Jimmy) Martinez, three grandchildren; Sonia Ochoa, Willis Brinkley and Robert Cervantez, two great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild. Connie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Arthur "Tudy" Garcia and by their son Damion Arthur Garcia, along with her parents Raul Herrera & Rosaura Herrera, her brother Sixto and her sister Enriqueta. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Holy Cross Church in Morenci starting with a viewing at 11:00 a.m. followed by the Recitation of the Rosary at 12:00 and the Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. A meal will be provided after the burial by the Rosary and Altar Society for family and friends. Everyone is welcomed to attend. My Mother, My Angel Kathy J Parenteau Once upon a time an angel held my hand. She wiped away my tears and helped me understand Our time on Earth is brief; there are lessons to be learned. Each precious day God gives us, another page is turned. Every chapter full of memories, times of joy and tears, Triumphs and defeats, through every passing year. She loved us unconditionally, always by our side. When no one else would listen, in her we could confide. With gentle words of wisdom, she led us on our way, Down the paths of righteousness if ever we did stray. She saw the light in everyone and gave with no regrets, Always from her heart, let's not forget. Angels come in many forms; for me it was my mother. With love I cannot say in words there'll never be another. Every day I turn the page, in my heart will ever remain Everything she taught me as I stroll down memory lane. Thank you, God, for giving me the most priceless of all treasures. Help me, Lord, to keep alive her memory here forever. I pray that I can someday be everything she hoped I would, That she's smiling down from heaven knowing she did good. As we gather here today, there's no ending to her story. Another chapter has begun, full of grace and glory. God's called her to his heavenly home, part of his great plan. Although it may be hard, we all must understand. Faith is what is hoped for, things we cannot see. Heaven is promised to all of us if only we believe. She was always ready to help us out in any way she could. Once she came to stay with us for two months because I had an infected leg and was unable to get up at all. She did everything, washing clothes, cleaning, cooking, etc. She loved being needed. She always made us feel special." As the day was coming to an end, my roommate and I would relax on the couch and tell stories. Grandma would tell stories about when she was a little girl and stories about how crazy my Grandpa was. My Grandma was a great story teller. These memories I have with her I will treasure forever." Robert Cervantez "Many of my life's fondest memories are times I spent at my grandparents home, and I will forever cherish my Grandma Chelo for the amazing love she always showed me. My Grams was a wonderful woman who devoted her whole life to caring for and loving her family. She gave us her everything until she could give no more and her illness overcame her.
