Cora Lee Blake, 87 of Safford past away August 14, 2014 at her home. Cora was born January 11, 1927 to William E. Williams and Bonnie Martin in Ash Peak, Arizona. She attended school in Duncan. She was married to Terrell A. Blake on February 10, 1946 in Safford. In 1960 Terrell and Cora opened the Blakes Snack Bar across from Safford High School and ran it for eight years until Cora went to school to become a teacher. She earned her teaching degree from U of A and taught elementary school until she retired in 1984. Terrell and Cora loved to square dance. Cora made her own dresses and they traveled all over the state dancing. She loved bowling and belonged to a bowling league and traveled far for many tournaments. She also volunteered at the Safford Hospital for many years and was an active member of the LDS church. Cora is survived by her sister Ollie Johnson, her children, Ann Blake Tracy, Terrell A. Blake Jr. Terry, Patty Laughter, Donna (Steve) Buckley, Tom (Brenda), 21 grandchildren and 41 great grand children. Cora is preceded in death by her husband Terrell and her sister Pearl. A viewing for Cora will be held at the Caldwell Funeral Chapel Thursday, August 21st from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 22nd, at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Safford LDS Stake Center with a viewing one hour prior.
