Corbett Longstreet peacefully entered into rest Tuesday morning, January 7, 2014 at Haven Health in Safford with his loving family by his side. Corbett was born August 16, 1929 to Jeff Longstreet and Mary Bond. When he was two years old his mother passed away and he was raised by his grandmother, Evelyn Longstreet, and grew up in Bylas. He enlisted in the Army and served in the Korean War. After he was honorably discharged, he came back to Bylas, where he met and married the love of his life, Zinda Henry. They had one daughter and made their home in Solomonville. There, Corbett worked for Claridge Farms and Larson Construction. He taught himself to operate all kinds of heavy equipment, from tractors to bulldozers. He was given nicknames by his coworkers including, Cat Skinner, Smick, and Carburetor. Corbett was known for his brilliance in operating all kinds of machinery. He was honest and hardworking all his life. He loved his wife and his daughter, and he adored his granddaughter and great-grandson. He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Glines; granddaughter, Marissa (PJ) Covarrubias; great-grandson, Atreyu; sisters, Gladys Hinton, Connie Dosella, Vivian Wilson, and Betty Baylish; brothers, George, Tony and Robert Longstreet all of Bylas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Zinda Longstreet; parents, Jeff and Mary Longstreet; son-in-law, Dennis R. Glines; brothers, Edwin and Tommy Longstreet; and sister, Emily Terrezas. A wake will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at the Longstreet residence in Bylas. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Lighthouse Assembly of God. Pastor Vernon Poncho will be officiating. Interment to follow at Bylas Veteran's Cemetery.
