Dale Philip Bateman 1916 ~ 2008 Our loving father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and dear friend, Dale Philip Bateman, passed away on a beautiful spring morning, March 1, 2008. Dale was born August 3, 1916 in West Jordan, Utah where he and his brother, Dean, devoted their lives to making Bateman Dairy Farms one of the most respected agricultural entities in the state. He is the 8th child of 10, son of Phil and Josie Bateman. Dale leaves behind a legacy of service to community, church, family and agriculture, including positions as the first President of the Utah Dairymens Association, various Soil and Water Conservation positions, Salt Lake County Chairman of the Republican Party, Vice President of Utah Boys Ranch, and other local and national agricultural organizations. As a lifetime member of the LDS church, he served as a Bishop, Stake President, Stake Patriarch, and a missionary with his sweetheart, Norma, in Pahrump, Nevada as well as in Guam, where he pronounced the first Patriarchal Blessings in the Micronesia Islands. Dale was preceded in death by his sweet wife, Norma, to whom he was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1943. As inseparable companions, their relationship grew daily as they served at home and traveled the world, changing the lives of everybody who had the good fortune of seeing their inspiring example of love and commitment. They are the parents of three children Doug (Sharolyn), Steven (Paula) and Kristine (Gary) Reynolds. They are also the grandparents of 19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, among them 12 missionaries and 14 eagle scouts. We are happy to celebrate the life of this great patriarch. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2008, 12:00 noon at the West Jordan River Stake Center, 1380 West 6785 South. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road and from 10:30 -11:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Interment at West Jordan Cemetery.
