Sadly, Dan Moir made the choice to join his Dad on November 28, 2017. His family and friends are heartbroken by his decision.
Dan was born early in the morning of July 16, 1975 in Ogden, Utah. His parents are Ronald and Dollie Moir. At birth Dan became the younger brother of Tamara and Scott. Dan and his family spent the first three years of his life in Utah. For the next three years of his life, because of his Dad's work, they moved to Moscow, Idaho; Rock Springs, Wyoming and Gallup, New Mexico. In 1981, the family made its final move to Safford, Arizona. Dan loved growing up in Safford.
Dan attended Dorothy Stinson School, Lafe Nelson School, Safford Jr. High and graduated from Safford High in May of 1993. During his school years he loved to play basketball. He played in Ed Ragland's Elementary School League and at Safford Jr. High where he was coached by Loren Moore. During this time of his life a basketball was always near. In high school, Dan found the joy of skateboarding.
Dan's work career began early. He delivered newspapers for the Arizona Republic when he was in junior high school. In high school, Dan bagged groceries at Thriftee Market. As an adult, Dan worked for Dave Cluff in his landscaping business for several years. Dan had a tremendous work ethic engrained in him by his Dad and nurtured by Dave Cluff. During the last years of his life, Dan was employed by Arizona Heating and Cooling in Prescott, Arizona.
Dan was a kind, gentle and sensitive person. He never knew a stranger. He liked everyone and accepted people for who they were. Dan was mischievous all of his life. Please remember Dan as a kind gentle spirit who may have touched your life briefly or for a long time.
Dan is survived by his children; Shaine Maureen Moir, Leo Anthony Dunham, Cassidy Gayle Moir, Jacob Daniel Moir and Morgan Vincent Moir. He is also survived by his mother, sister and brother, nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins and also survived by the friends who enriched his life.
Dan was preceded in death by his Dad, Ron, whom he tried to emulate his whole life and his cousin, Shane Preston.
A memorial service will be held to honor Dan's memory at All Saints Episcopal Church, 210 W. Main Street, Safford, Arizona on December 16, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
