David Carbajal

December 12, 1957 — March 15, 2025

David A. Carbajal, a cherished father, brother, and friend, left us on March 15, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on December 12, 1957, in Morenci, Arizona, he embraced life with an exuberance that resonated deeply with everyone who had the privilege to know him. He passed away in Pima, Arizona, leaving a vibrant tapestry of memories for his family and friends to hold close.

David's journey began in Clifton, Arizona, where he graduated from high school in 1975. His professional life as an electrician showcased not just his skills but also his unwavering dedication to his craft. After a long career, he proudly retired from Tucson Electric Power Company in 2023, following his tenure at Freeport in 2016. Yet, his legacy extends far beyond wires and currents; it thrives within the hearts of those touched by his kindness.

A man of many passions, David was an outdoorsman at heart, finding solace in nature's embrace. He reveled in hunting, gambling, and Softball, pursuits that illustrated his adventurous spirit and love for life. His loud persona and friendly demeanor were infectious, and his ability to lighten the mood was a precious gift. Known for his favorite saying, "Let's go eat!" David brought joy and laughter to gatherings, always ready to share a meal or a joke with those around him, embodying the essence of camaraderie.

David was not just a family man but a mentor who guided those around him. He found great joy in nurturing his daughters—Amanda Carbajal (Sam Haralson), Marcella (Emiliano) Jurado, and Samantha (Hector) Romo—imparting wisdom and love in equal measure. His siblings, Gracie (Tim) Hemmerling, Arnold (Sherry) Carbajal, and Stephanie (Mike) Saiz, along with his seven grandchildren, stand testament to a life well-lived, rich in love and laughter.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Katherine Rose Carbajal, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage of 29 years before her passing. Their union, solemnized on September 14, 1979, in Clifton, remains a cherished chapter in David's story. He also mourned the loss of his parents, Frank and Yolanda Carbajal, his brother Ruben Carbajal, and his great-nephew Dustin Hollowell. Each of these souls left an indelible mark on his life, enriching it with shared experiences and enduring love.

David's connection to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation reflected his appreciation for nature and conservation, further illuminating his passion for the outdoors.
