David Lovell

David Ray Lovell 1944 ~ 2008 David Ray Lovell, 64, died December 20, 2008, at his home in Talyorsville, Utah after a persevering battle with cancer. David was born November 3, 1944, in Provo, Utah, to Ray Wheeler Lovell and Florence (Lindsay) Lovell. As a youth he spent time working on the family farm in Idaho and enjoyed camping with the scouts. In school he was involved with sports and music. He graduated from Springville High School in 1963. Upon graduation he served in the Northern States Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. David graduated from Brigham Young University with a Master of Engineering and began his career as a civil engineer for the state of Utah. In 1973 he took a job with Salt Lake County where he spent the remainder of his career in public works engineering. In February of 2007 he retired from the county and looked forward to serving a mission for the LDS church. Davids joy was his family. He married his loving spouse, Lois Ivie on April 2, 1966 in the Manti temple. Together they raised five children. He loved being outside in nature, especially fishing, hiking, camping, and backpacking in the great outdoors with his family. He spent the majority of his life serving the youth and spent many years in the scouting program. He enjoyed gardening and helping his family with their handiworks. David was always known for his infinite patience and positive outlook on life. Along with his fun sense of humor, he was always good-natured, loving, and caring to all. He spent his life putting others before himself by serving his family, his church, and those in need. His love and generosity was an inspiration to all who knew him; he lived his life with integrity and honor. David leaves behind an amazing legacy, filled with his example and charity, to all those who knew him and will be deeply missed for all time. He is survived by his wife, Lois Lovell, Taylorsville, Utah; children Michael David (Michelle) Lovell, West Jordan, Utah; Scott Christopher (Kolene) Lovell, West Jordan, Utah; Tracy Rae (Steve) Catmull, Riverton, Utah; Kristy Ann (Jeff) Brohamer, West Jordan, Utah; Bryce Patrick (Laura) Lovell, West Jordan, Utah; mother Florence Lovell, Taylorsville, Utah; 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Ray Wheeler Lovell; his brother-in-laws, Jeff Johnson and John Kormylo; His sister-in-law Sarah Lovell; and his nephew Keyton Lovell. He also leaves behind many friends, youth, and neighbors who will miss him dearly. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at the Taylorsville 10th Ward, 4950 S 1950 W. Friends and family may call Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Homes, 4330 South Redwood Road and Tuesday morning 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Redwood Memorial Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
