Desmond Allanson Hancock 1929 ~ 2010 Our beloved father Desmond Allanson Hancock passed away on November 6, 2010. Desmond was born on May 30, 1929 in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. He married his wife Marjorie and they raised four children there. In 1986 he and Marge immigrated to the United States. Dad loved to travel and he dreamed of going to new and exciting places. He loved being in America. Dad was a convert to the LDS church in 1964 and he embraced the gospel and served whenever and wherever he was called. He enjoyed being a branch president, service missionary and attending the temple. Dad was a wonderful father. He spent hours teaching us, having adventures with us and even helping with homework. It seemed as though he always knew something about everything. On week-ends we never asked are we going? but where are we going?. Dad never liked being away from Mom and we know he is happy to be back with her again. Survived by his children: Mary-Ann (Lynn) Payne, Rosemary Clark, Brian (Juanita) Hancock, Deborah ( Ian) Billingsley; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings: Cyril (Hazel) Hancock, Pearl (Dennis) Mortimer, Joan Ford; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie; brother John Hancock; and a great-grandson Solomon Payne. Thank you to everyone at Canyon Rim Care Center and Bristol Hospice for the loving care you gave to Dad and all of us. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
