Diana Hoplin

Diana Lynn Hoplin of Duncan, passed quietly with her life partner at her bedside on Saturday November 9, 2019 at the age of 63. She was born to James P. Hoplin and Patsy Anderson on December 12, 1955 in Ephrata, Washington. Diana grew up in Ephrata, spending much of her early years with Grandma and Grandpa Alice & Vic Balcom, whom she loved dearly. She worked several jobs to include one on a district fire department where she was required to perform with the same proficiency as the men! She later became employed as a caregiver which she did until a debilitating injury. Diana married Fredrick Bunce and had two children, Patty (Hogan) and James Jarrod . Of those children came three precious grandchildren. They moved to Pulman, Washington, home of the WSU Cougars, where the children finished school. In the late 90's Diana was diagnosed with lupus and became very ill and had to quit her job as a caregiver. Her marriage ended in 2002 and in 2005 she met her life partner, Ed Hartner, and she soon moved to Arizona to be with him. In 2011, Diana was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis which eventually rendered her a quadriplegic. Diana loved going to their houseboat on Apache Lake, boating, fishing, camping, 4x4 and quading, exploring the old mines around Duncan and seeing the backcountry. She spent leisure time crocheting blankets to be given to the elderly and won Grand Champion for a bed ensemble. Her favorite night out was having fish dinner at Jerry's with her new family & inlaws and, of course, shopping! She is survived by her mother Patsy, her siblings; Rod, Mike, Jonny and Lisa, all of whom are from Washington. Her children & grandchildren and her step-children; Doris Leray & Travis Owen Hartner & step-grandson of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her step father, Robert "Bob" Anderson, her brother Roger Anderson and her grandparents. A very special thanks to her most wonderful friend, Mrs. Tina Hernandez, her confidant and caregiver for over 7 years, whom she adored so very much.
