Dick Herbert

July 27, 1925 — April 29, 2010

Richard (Dick) Harold Herbert Jr. was born July 27, 1925 in Aztec New Mexico. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War Il. Richard married Avula Motto in 1946. He owned and operated his own business until 1949 when he then went to work for Southern Union Gas Company. He held various positions until he was named as Manager in Holbrook Arizona in 1958 where he served until he retired in 1987. Dick and Tina moved to Thatcher, Arizona in 2002. Richard was a charter member of B.P. O.E. #2450 where he was an honorary life member. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 37 in Holbrook Arizona and a member of the Rotary Club for 29 years. He served 4 years on the County Planning and Zoning Commission in Navajo County, Arizona and he was President of the Chamber of Commerce in 1965 and Holbrook Man of the year in 1966. Richard is survived by his lovely wife Avula (Tina) Herbert and their three sons: Lyle, Derald and Guy (Skip) Herbert. Seven Grandchildren and nine Great Grandchildren. A private family service will be held.
